Overview
The Performance tab in DDx allows you to identify and track class performance at a glance, spot who is struggling, and understand why. The Performance tab shows you how your learners perform across cases, courses and instructional focus.
What you see depends on your role:
Role | What you see |
|---|---|
Faculty | All Learners page for your courses, plus an individual page for each learner |
Learners | A My Performance page with their own performance data across every course they’ve enrolled in |
Program admins | Program-level views across all courses and learners, coming soon. |
Scores reflect each learner's most recent completed attempt on a case.
All Learners page: see your whole class
Select Performance in the top navigation to open the All Learners page. It answers two questions: how did the class perform overall, and who is struggling?
Choose a course in the My courses dropdown.
Choose a Date range, such as Last 30 days.
Use the Courses card to quickly jump into a course. Each card shows the class average and number of learners.
Review the Learners table. Select a learner to open their individual performance page.
Select Export CSV to download the table.
Reading the Learners table
Each row is one learner. Columns show cases completed, average score, and the average score in each instructional focus: Clinical Reasoning, Communication, Clinical Skills, Routine Care, and Clinical Foundations. Sort any focus column to compare learners.
Scores are color coded red, yellow, and green, so learners who may need support stand out without filtering or sorting. If many learners are low in the same focus, that can point to a topic that needs more classroom time.
Individual learner page: understand why a learner is struggling
The individual learner page goes past a single score. It shows where a learner is strong, where they lose points, and whether they are improving. Filter the page with My courses with [learner], Instructional focus, and Date range. Select Export report to download it. The page header shows when the data was last updated.
Average performance
Four cards summarize the learner: Average score, Multiple choice performance, Assignments completed, and Average time to complete. Reading score and time together helps you tell an effort issue from a knowledge gap.
Average scores across instructional focus
One card per focus shows the learner's score, the number of assignments, and the course average. Compare the learner to the course average to see whether a low score is a learner issue or a course-wide issue. Select Assign more cases on any card to assign extra practice in that focus.
Assignment performance across time
This scatter plot shows each completed case as a point, colored by instructional focus. Dashed and solid lines mark the learner average and the class average. Hover over a point to see the case name, date, score, hints used, time, and mode, then select View results to open the case.
Look for trends rather than single points. One low score is normal; a downward trend across several cases is a signal to act.
Rubric performance
Bar charts for Clinical Reasoning and Communication show performance on each rubric dimension, such as Initial Differential, Directed History, Differential Diagnosis, and Directed Testing. These are scored on a 1 to 3 scale:
Score | Level |
|---|---|
1 to 1.4 | Preliminary |
1.5 to 2.4 | Progressing |
2.5 to 3 | Proficient |
Hover over a bar to see the level descriptions and related competencies. Select View rubric details for the full rubric. The Communication chart has a tab for each communication scenario type, such as shared decision making and informed consent.
Clinical Skills, Routine Care, and Clinical Foundations scores are based on key findings and multiple choice performance.
Assignment history
Every assignment in the selected courses appears in one table with its instructional focus, score, due date, completion status, time spent, and course. Select Results to open the case and its transcript, so you can see exactly where the learner lost points and use their reasoning in a feedback conversation.
What learners see
Learners open My Performance from the top navigation. It has the same sections as the faculty individual learner page: average performance, scores by instructional focus, performance across time, rubric breakdowns, and assignment history with transcript access for self-review.
Learners see only their own data. There are no cohort comparisons and no other learners' results. They can filter by course, instructional focus, and date range, and use Export report to bring their results to a conversation with faculty or an advisor.
FAQs
Which attempt counts toward a learner's score?
The most recent completed attempt on each case.
A learner has a lot of red early in the course. Should I be worried?
Not necessarily. Low scores are common early in the learning cycle. Watch the performance across time chart for a sustained downward trend.
How do I tell if a low score is the learner or the course?
Compare the learner's score in each instructional focus to the course average shown on the same card. If the whole class is low in one focus, check the All Learners table for the same pattern.
Can learners see their classmates' scores?
No. Learners see only their own data.
Can I export the data?
Yes. Use Export CSV on the All Learners page or Export report on an individual learner page.
Is there a program-wide view for administrators?
Program-level views covering every learner across all courses in your organization are in development.
